The Wright Family Reunion
THE WRIGHT FAMILY REUNION
“A FAMILY THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER”
July 27, 2007
Greetings Family!
I’m excited to announce that plans have begun for the 2008 Wright
Family Reunion!
First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is Maurice Williams;
I am the son of Jimmy & Katie Williams and the grandson of Gladys
Wright & Thad Johnson I am also the 2008 Reunion Coordinator.
I’m looking forward to working with everyone who is interested in
helping – even in a small way – to make this reunion fun and memorable
for all who attend.
Several of the Reunion Committee members have met to start making
preliminary plans. Our first task was to pick a location and come
up with dates in 2008. The dates are set for July 25-27, 2008.
The location we have decided on was a unanimous decision, especially
after making a trip to visit in person. We have chosen a beautiful
spot located between Eliazabethtown, NC and White Lake NC. The place
we decided on is Jones Lake State Park. There is an abundance of
lodging facilities and other amenities to ensure a wonderful reunion
weekend. There are cottages on White Lake, cabins, a lodge, and
a campground to choose from for accommodations. The amenities include
boating, fishing, golf, tennis courts, swimming area (lake), water
park, playgrounds, nature trails, and plenty of wide-open spaces
for our own games (football, softball, volleyball, badminton, horseshoes,
etc.). There are also several sightseeing attractions nearby for
those who are interested. We will send a list of lodging information
as the event gets closer.
We hope that since we are still a year away that people will be
able to put this date on their calendars and make it work. The reunion
events will begin Friday evening and go through Sunday morning;
with some free time built into the day on Saturday. An exact schedule
of events will be sent at a later date.
I have attached a form for each family group to return. This information
will be used to compile a mailing list and contact group for upcoming
reunion letters and information. The Reunion Committee will be working
hard over the next several months to ensure that everyone has a
great time. If you are interested in helping please let us know.
We want to hear your ideas! Please feel free to duplicate copies
of this letter or send addresses of other family members that we
may not have. We will go through the spreadsheet to eliminate duplicates.
It's better to have an address twice than not at all!
I truly hope that everyone that receives this letter will try to
make it to the 2008 Reunion. The Wright Family Reunion only happens
once every other year; it is a three day event, giving family members
(that span six generations and live from coast to coast) an opportunity
to spend time together visiting loved ones, getting to know one
another and building relationships to last a lifetime.
Feel free to call, write, or e-mail for more information.
Again I must reiterate, please send addresses (email or US Postal
Service) of other descendants of Grant Wright & Catherine Sutton
Wright that may not be widely known to me to the following email
address (thewrightfamilyreunion (at) yahoo.com).
Feel free to E-mail I do realize that it is more cost effective
than the US Postal Service. If mailing through the US Postal Service
please forward information to Kesha Truitt, PO Box 3198 Laurel,
MD 20709. Mrs. Truitt is also a part of the planning committee.
Yours truly,
Maurice
